Select Exhibition: Binna Burra Rocks & Water Brisbane Bush and River Journey Through White Rock and Beyond
The works in this exhibition are centred around my experiences bushwalking and painting in the White Rock Conservation Park, Redbank, near Ipswich. I've experimented with various techniques including the use of acrylic resin and PVA for impasto effects and including natural earth pigments from the area and a form of frottage from the bark of trees burnt in recent bushfires. The images include rock formations, tracks, flora and fauna and more abstract interpretations of this marvellous area. Expect some surprises in the display of the works, hopefully enhancing your viewing experience.
Other works are based on studies of the various environments of the Lamington and Tamborine areas and impressions made on a trip to 'Allendale', a property near Tara once owned by the Dykes, my sister-in-law's family. The visit was during the only rain in the area for almost a year, with some canvases still showing the effects of the downpours.
I hope the exhibition will be an enjoyable experience for all who attend.
